Changes are occurring in your body every week, even if you might not notice it. Even your baby is starting to rapidly develop and you might not see it until it comes to taking ultrasound photos. Here are some things to expect and some tips to get you by this stage of your pregnancy.
Changes as a Woman
At 9 weeks pregnant, you may observe a slight bump on your abdomen, like the size of a small cantaloupe. You might feel that you have gained weight, but this is mostly because of the water you are retaining. First time mothers would notice the increase in their size more than others, because they are more sensitive to these changes.
Aside from the bloated feeling, you can also note a bit of gassiness in your body. Flatulence and burping are common; it is mostly because of the increase in your hormones. You might also notice that mood swings are becoming frequent. You might feel like crying one minute and just ecstatic the next. This is again because of the excess hormones your body produces at 9 weeks pregnant.
One of the best ways to deal with all these changes in your body, even the sluggish and sickly feeling is to simply exercise a bit. Not like a full workout but a few minutes on the treadmill or a relaxing walk can do wonders for your health. Remember that even if you are pregnant, there is no reason why you would have to forget to take care of yourself.
Changes in Your Baby
Your baby might still seem a little small at 9 weeks pregnant, more or less an inch long, but all your baby’s organs are already present and functioning well. The tail of the baby has also disappeared. Your baby may seem small but it is rapidly growing. Even the ultrasound would be more detailed. You could see the figures of your baby’s arms, legs and what would look like a big head.
At 9 weeks pregnant, the distinct facial features of your baby are also starting to form. The nose, nostrils, mouth and eyes are becoming distinct. The eyes of your baby would shut close this week and would only open until you are about 27 weeks in. The sex organ is also starting to form, although you won’t really know just yet what it is until 18 to 20 weeks.
These first few weeks of your pregnancy would weigh more heavily emotionally on you as a mother. Although the physical changes are not that pronounce, the changes in you are occurring, and fast. You and your baby are on your way to bigger adventures. Just remember to keep taking your vitamins to ensure you, as well as your baby, are both healthy and ready for the weeks to come.
